Description:

Native American, Alaska, Inuit, Aleutian, or Punuk peoples, Pre-Contact Period, ca. 100 to 1000 CE. An interesting collection of small tools carved from either walrus or whale bone. Two slender needles have either pointed or flattened end, with one boasting a hooked terminal. Four pieces have differing forms, however their smooth tips suggest they were used for burnishing or smoothing. Two items are small arrowheads with tapering tangs. Two items are tapering awls, one with an even narrower end. Two items have forked ends, one with a short body, and one with large serrations. One item resembles a small knife, and the last item resembles a pick with a spatula-shaped end. Size of largest (needle w/ hook): 4.95" L (12.6 cm).
