Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast of Mexico, Huastec culture, ca. 600 to 900 CE; Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A set of hand-built and mold-formed pottery artifacts from ancient Mesoamerica. First are 7 Huastec heads with impressed eyes as well as 1 with raised, ovoid eyes. Three Huastec heads exhibit the influence of the earlier Veracruz culture of the same region, each with a smooth, triangular face. The remaining 2 pieces are of Maya origin - a petite avian head and a finely-molded human face. Size of largest: 1.75" L x 1.875" W x 3.125" H (4.4 cm x 4.8 cm x 7.9 cm)
