Description:

Roman Empire, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A group of ten mold-made terracotta oil-burning vessels in many sizes, shapes, and styles. Some are petite with fine details and small wick spouts, the smallest having almost no detailing to speak of. The other lamps are larger, all with tab-shaped handles/thumb-rests, wide fill holes, and elongated wick spouts. A great collection-starting group! Size of largest: 4" L x 2.5" W x 1.875" H (10.2 cm x 6.4 cm x 4.8 cm).

Provenance: ex-Carlton collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired between 1965 and 1980
