Southern Africa, Angola or Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kongo (Bakongo) peoples, 19th to early 20th century CE. This is a carved stone hand that was made to be resting on a lap; it is holding an implement of some kind. This is from a lifesize statue, and has excellent details, like clearly incised fingernails and details on the implement. This is part of a tumba (bitumba), a stone figure that is placed on the grave of a powerful person. Size: 5.25" W x 8" H (13.3 cm x 20.3 cm)
