Description:

Latin America, Mexico to South America, ca. 1909 CE. An enormous wooden bull statue that is hand-carved from hardwood and painted with wonderful hues of white, black, red, and green. The massive bovine stands atop an integral green plinth with all four hooves and bears a muscular body, a thick neck with a wavy dewlap, and a bushy tail on the verso. The charming face exhibits ovoid eyes, a narrow snout, incised wrinkles across the brow, broad, cupped ears, and a pair of massive horns. A date on the front of the green plinth reads "1909" within crosshatch-patterned borders. Size: 23" L x 10.7" W x 22.375" H (58.4 cm x 27.2 cm x 56.8 cm)
