Description:

Roman, late Imperial Period, ca. 4th to early 5th century CE. A cast-brass oil lamp with a square mortise beneath the base meant to rest atop a lamp stand. The top of the bulbous body is capped with a tiered, baluster-shaped lid and has an upturned wick spout on the front. A semicircular handle curves upwards from the back end and features a triangular leaded-bronze finial with the stylized face of a youthful male. Mottled layers of brown and green patina envelop the entire vessel and imbue it with an attractive presentation. Size: 7" L x 3.25" W x 4.75" H (17.8 cm x 8.3 cm x 12.1 cm)
