Description:

Attic, Late Geometric II, late 8th cent. BCE. Mug on low foot with concave wall and high strap handle. Three friezes separated by bands. Metopes with zig-zags in the top frieze, sigmas in the central one and wolf's teeth in the bottom frieze. A broad band at the bottom of the wall. Stripes on the handle and the interior of the rim. Surface losses on the exterior and interior of the neck. 4"H (10.4cm) x 4"L (10.2cm) x ~3"D (7.5cm)

Provenance: Formerly Coll. Alder, Basle. Old inv. no. in pencil "472" on the base.
