North America, late Cretaceous Period, ca. 68 to 66 million years ago. A pair of fossil parts from a triceratops (Triceratops horridus), one of the most famous dinosaurs. First, a ball socket from one of its long bones, with a great view to the interior of the bone on its underside. Second, a jugal, a part of the face that formed the cheek. Size of jugal: 12.5" W (31.8 cm)

  • Condition: Ball socket is a fragment of a larger bone that appears to have broken apart a very long time ago - possibly even before it was fossilized. Jugal is restored on one side (approximately 30%) and repaired from multiple pieces.
