Description:

Europe, Spain, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A large, hand thrown, terracotta pitcher, of a substantive ovoid shape with a subtly flared rim and a single, applied strap handle. In addition to its grand scale, the piece is also impressive for the scalloped pattern that was scored onto its shoulder and the glaze patterns. Decorated with an iron rich glaze, the piece presents an interesting finish, showing olive green as well as red hues and darker matte areas. Firing is such a mysterious process; the results in this case display quite a variety of finishes. Size: 7.5" W x 9.25" H (19 cm x 23.5 cm)
