Description:

Western Europe, Germany, ca. late 16th to early 17th century CE. A beautiful yet brutal axe with a curving wooden handle topped with a forged-steel blade. The handle has several smooth indentations on either side for increased grip and a slanted pommel end for emergency strikes if anything detrimental to the blade were to occur. The weapon has a tall, crescent-shaped blade with several small points on the verso, petite groups of perforated holes, and a short spike on the verso that bears a brass rivet impressed with a triangle on one side. Both handle and head are enveloped with fine patina that makes this an attractive example of German weaponry! Size: 8.125" W x 35.375" H (20.6 cm x 89.9 cm)
