Description:

North America / Siberia, Pliocene to Pleistocene period, ca. 2.6 million to 10,000 years ago. A wonderful, fossilized molar from a prehistoric mammoth - this tooth is a fascinating structure that reflects the animal's dietary adaptations and evolutionary history- the flat grinding surface was necessary for devouring the massive amounts of grasses these mammoths primarily ate. The lengthy roots would have cemented this tooth into the jaws of the animal, and mammoths had a total of 4 molars, which they would go through 6 times as they matured. Size: 9.75" L x 3" W x 8" H (24.8 cm x 7.6 cm x 20.3 cm)
