Ancient. Egypt, Coptic, ca. 3rd to 6th century CE. A wonderful textile section, comprised of tightly-woven natural cotton fibers in hues of cream, brown, russet, green, orange, white, and beige. The body features a myriad of different designs, including floral patterns, abstract geometric shapes, repeating undulating wave-shaped motifs, and both monochrome and polychrome avian figures. A lovely example of Coptic-period textile craftsmanship! Size: 20" W x 15.75" H (50.8 cm x 40 cm).
