Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. late 19th century to early 20th century. This is a bronze hand in the traditional Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of protection with the hand pointing upwards. Buddhist hand symbols are often presented in specific styles to represent different aspects of Buddha and Buddhist values. This gesture is also called "Gesture of Fearlessness" or "blessing" or "fearless mudra". This hand has strong details, such as the fingernails, and is lifesize. Size (with custom stand): 6.75" L x 3.5" W x 9.3" H (17.1 cm x 8.9 cm x 23.6 cm).
