A wonderful wooden war shield from Kalam tribe of Simbai, Papua New Guinea. Showing great signs of use, the shield is carved from a single piece of hardwood with an upraised design of interlocking diamond shapes and braided motifs, pierced in the middle to hold a bush fiber rope or handle. Size: 0.4" L x 23.5" W x 42.5" H (1 cm x 59.7 cm x 108 cm)
