Description:

South America, Bolivia, 20th century CE. A large and impressive pair of sterling silver Spanish Colonial style outspread wings, hand made by the Andean silversmiths in Bolivia from high content .925 silver (34.5 oz - 1000+ grams), using the same techniques used since the Colonial era by the Andean silversmiths. Each wing was meticulously hand hammered, expertly molded in repousse, and realistically chased throughout. Descendants of the Inca culture, the Aymara speaking artists have devoted themselves to preserving this thousand year old tradition. These wings were most likely intended for an Archangel Santo, perhaps Michael, Rafael or Gabriel. Displayed on a custom, museum-quality stand, these would make for an outstanding highlight in any collection of Spanish colonial devotional art! Size: each wing measures 7.125" W x 11.5" H (18.1 cm x 29.2 cm)
