Description:

Indo-Persian, Mughal, ca. mid 20th century CE. A hand-painted papier mache plate featuring an elaborate hunting scene with a ferocious leopard or other wild feline attacking and drawing blood from the central figure who may represent a Mughal emperor given his larger scale and central position in the piece. Surrounding him are numerous figures on horseback striking animals with their spears. The action-packed scene is set against a hilly, forested landscape. All is delineated in a beautiful color palette of russet red, vibrant green, golden yellow, and rich beige hues. This piece is conveniently fitted with suspension hardware for display purposes. Size: 16.375" in diameter (41.6 cm)
