Description:

Western Europe, probably England or France, Medieval Period, ca. 10th to 12th century CE. A forged-iron spear head of a sizable form with an elongated triangular blade. The blade head exhibits a flat ridge style bearing a shallow midrib coursing between sharpened edges and a pointed tip, and a conical socketing shaft beneath enables the head to easily fit atop a lengthy wooden pole. Spear heads like this example were incredibly popular among Medieval soldiers as they kept their enemies at a distance and dispatched those who came too close. Size: 2.5" W x 16.4" H (6.4 cm x 41.7 cm)
