Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A cast-bronze spear head comprised of a long tapered blade with a midrib that runs from the tip and ends above two vertical incised ribs. The two ribs end before the rounded shoulders and the short tang for attaching the spear head to a rod. A rich green and brown patina covers the surface of the blade. A finely crafted blade meant for combat with a simple but intimidating design that could easily punch through armor! Size: 15.43" L x 2.9" W (39.2 cm x 7.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000
