Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A sizable pot formed from a hammered sheet of bronze with a round but stable base, tall walls that taper gradually, and a smooth rim bearing a pair of omega-form handles. The exterior walls exhibit dozens of vertical ribs formed via the hammering process that imbue it with a stylish presentation, and the smooth rim suggests it accommodated a lid at one time. Mottled layers of green and brown patina have formed across the surfaces. Size: 9.25" W x 6.875" H (23.5 cm x 17.5 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, acquired before 2000
