Description:

South America, Brazil, millions and millions of years old. A half-section of a long, ovoid geode with a golden citrine (yellow quartz) interior. Geodes form from hollow bubbles inside of a layer of rocks. Rain or other water sources falling on the exterior of the rock cause the elements within it to flow into the bubbles, forming gorgeous crystals like these within. Trace variations in mineral content, especially iron, magnesium, or copper, can have huge effects. This color is sometimes known as Madeira citrine, a reddish-brown color common to geodes in Brazil and named for the fortified wine made in the Madeira Islands off the coast of Portugal. Size: 7" W x 21" H (17.8 cm x 53.3 cm)
