Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, La Tolita (Tumaco) culture, ca. 350 BCE to 350 CE. A large, mold-made, grey pottery erect phallus with a molded ring around the base of the head. The piece is hollow, and seems to have been removed from a larger statue. The La Tolita/Tumaco culture is particularly known among pre-Columbian South American cultures for its embrace of the erotic in art, with phallic sculpture holding a prominent place. Researchers have seen this as evidence for a sex-positive culture, without restriction or taboo. Comes with custom stand. Size: 5" L x 2.8" W x 1.7" H (12.7 cm x 7.1 cm x 4.3 cm); height on stand: 4.2" (10.7 cm)

See 'Tumaco', by Yves Sabolo, p. 220-221 for similar examples.
