Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure of a sizable form seated upon bent legs and wearing a knee-length skirt. She sits with a rigid posture, a small cloak wrapped around her neck and draped over one shoulder, her raised left arm touching her ear spool, and the other holding a small implement. Her characteristic "sheepface" visage is comprised of faint coffee-bean-shaped eyes, an elongated conical nose, thin lips, and perky ears with serrated ear spools, all beneath an elongated forehead decorated with two elaborate headbands. Faint traces of red-orange pigment are visible across the surfaces. Size: 4" L x 6" W x 9.8" H (10.2 cm x 15.2 cm x 24.9 cm).
