Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, Ameca type, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery figure of sizable form who presents nude while holding both arms out to her sides. Her voluptuous belly, thighs, and breasts create her overall feminine physique while heavy-lidded eyes and a charming smile create an amicable presentation. Adorning her shoulders are several ritual cicatrice marks that were perhaps viewed as a sign of strength in ancient times. Size: 5.3" L x 12" W x 16.6" H (13.5 cm x 30.5 cm x 42.2 cm)

Provenance: private Charlotte, North Carolina, USA collection; ex-Clark Cierlak Fine Arts, Sherman Oaks, California, USA; ex-Hasso von Winning estate
