Central Asia, Indus Valley civilization, Pakistan (Baluchistan) Mehrgarh style, ca. 3000 to 2500 BCE. A remarkable wheel thrown pottery jar of voluminous form presenting with a circular base, impressively thin walls that swell outwards to a bulbous body, a gradually sloping shoulder, slender tubular neck, lipped rim, and thick looped handle connecting the neck and shoulder. Enveloped in mottled hues of cream, sienna, beige, and caramel, this ancient vessel is beautifully adorned with five lovely registers; three consisting of six to eight horizontal incised parallel lines and two of a plain smooth surface. A minimalistic yet elegant artifact from the ancient Indus Valley civilization! Size: 7.375" in diameter x 11.25" H (18.7 cm x 28.6 cm)
