Description:

South Asia, Northeastern India / Burma border, Nagaland, Naga people, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A large hand woven cotton textile with an unusual knotted pile on one side, with the plain weave visible on the verso. There are few examples we could find of this particular textile and no explanations for its use. We suspect this was used as a blanket and not a garment, although it is possible it was a thicker body wrap. Size: 67" L x 36" W (170.2 cm x 91.4 cm)
