Description:

Ancient Near East, modern day northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A heavy bronze bracelet with slightly flared terminals and dense incised motifs on its exterior side. The motifs consist mainly of straight lines with two sections - to either side of the center - that appear to show partial views of the sun passing over the viewer's head. Behind those are motifs that resemble feathers. The interior is undecorated. The size of the bracelet suggests it was made for a large wrist or possibly to be worn over something like a leather armguard. Size: 3.9" W x 0.55" H (9.9 cm x 1.4 cm); size of opening: 1.35" (3.4 cm)

Provenance: private R.D. collection, Long Beach, California, USA collection, acquired over 25 years from various major galleries.
