Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Ica-Chincha culture, ca. 900 to 1450 CE. A large pottery storage vessel, the base tapers to a rounded, and narrow point, the sides expanding up to a broad shoulder and short neck with a slightly outturned rim. The surface is painted in polychrome hues, which resemble patterns seen in woven textiles from the region. The Ica-Chincha culture was significantly influenced by both the Nazca and Huari (Wari) cultures. From the Nazca, they inherited intricate ceramic styles, motifs, and textile production techniques, reflecting the rich artistic heritage of the region. The Huari influence is evident in the administrative and architectural developments, as well as in the incorporation of Huari iconography and artistic styles into Ica-Chincha pottery and textiles. Size: 10.5" Diameter x 10" H (26.7 cm x 25.4 cm)
