Description:

Ancient Seas, ca. 400 million years ago. A large fossilized ammonite, an extinct marine mollusk that was related to the living coleoid family, including octopus and squid. The fossilized rock has a cream and beige color with some yellow-orange inclusions. The name "ammonite" came from Pliny the Elder after the Egyptian god Ammon, who was typically depicted wearing ram's horns that Pliny thought these fossils resembled. Size: 10.25" W x 10.5" H (26 cm x 26.7 cm); 15.75" H (40 cm) on included custom stand; weight: 17 lbs (7.71 kg).
