Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Guangala culture, ca. 100 to 500 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure depicted in a partially nude manner with breasts shown between incised shoulder tattooing. The sturdy figure presents with arms draped to the sides of a knee-length skirt incised with linear and geometric motifs, with a slightly distended abdomen, and incised rings surrounding the neck. Almond eyes, a petite nose with delineated nostrils, and slender ears comprised the face, all beneath an elaborately incised cap. Size: 2.3" L x 5.7" W x 12.875" H (5.8 cm x 14.5 cm x 32.7 cm)

Provenance: Private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000.
