Description:

Western Greek, probably Taranto, end 5th cent. BCE. Somewhat larger than half life-size, this impressive goddess wears a peplos fastened by a girdle just below the breast. Its rich folds cover her legs down to the feet, whilst its neckline reveals a thin chiton with a broad hem. A heavy cloak is wrapped around her left arm and right hip, its end dangling between her legs. The front of the seat is decorated by a profile. 85cm H x 46.7cm L x 38cm W

  • Condition: Two small, round firing holes are located on the sides of the seat. Head, right arm and a fragment of the back missing. Reassembled from a few large fragments, small restoration to the right part of the body. Slightly worn.
