Description:

Ancient Greece, late Dark Ages to early Archaic Period, ca. 1050 to 700 BCE. A sizable and elegant fibula brooch formed from a single elongated thick bronze wire. A pair of large spirals comprise the majority of the pendant, one with eight rotations and the other with nine, with two small loops in the center, and a slender pin on the verso. A small fastener extends behind the center of one spiral and holds the pin within. Covered in lustrous layers of green and blue-green patina, this is a beautiful example from ancient Greece!
