Description:

South America, Uruguay, millions and millions of years old. An amazing amethyst crystal quartz cluster, this specimen entirely natural, lining the interior of a geode and presenting a mesmerizing stalactite eye of rich golden caramel, effervescent white, and coral pink hues that mirror the polished surround framing the naturally faceted deep purple amethyst clusters. The name of this popular gemstone is Greek in origin and means "not drunken." Some scholars suggest that this was due to the belief that Amethyst had the power to stave off the effects of alcohol; however, most believe that the Greeks were probably referring to the near wine-like hue of some amethyst stones. The deep saturated violet hues of this specimen are absolutely breathtaking. Truly a remarkable work of natural art presented upon a custom, museum-quality stand. Size: 10" W x 15" H (25.4 cm x 38.1 cm); 20" H (50.8 cm) on included custom stand; total weight: 32.8 lbs (stone: 28 lbs; stand: 4.8 lbs).
