Description:

Ancient Seas, North America, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. A sizable and attractive tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark! The enamel is a lustrous and warm gray hue, the sheen a natural part of the fossilization process and the colors from the minerals and chemicals present in the sediment and water as the tooth aged. The root is a matte brown and contrasts nicely with the lighter enamel. Given how an average megalodon would contain around 276 teeth in its mouth at any given time, this tooth serves as a testament to just how enormous this ancient aquatic hunter would have been! Pictured stand not included, but available for an additional fee. Size: 5.63" L x 4.21" W (14.3 cm x 10.7 cm)
