Description:

Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. A fine fossilized tooth from the pre-historic megalodon shark! This tooth is has a naturally lustrous and creamy tan hued enamel with light brown speckles. The root is a matte dark brown with fissures and pitting from the fossilization process. Megalodons were among the largest predators the ocean ever saw, but their teeth are the only parts that have survived since their cartilage bodies could not fossilize. Interestingly, medieval people believed that these strange teeth were moon rocks or dragon's tongues! Size: 3.75" W x 4.625" H (9.5 cm x 11.7 cm); 4.8" H (12.2 cm) on included custom stand.
