Description:

**Originally Listed At $1000**

Ancient Seas, Jurassic to Cretaceous period, ca. 200 to 66 million years ago. A fossilized ammonite that is nearly fully excavated from the stone it fossilized in, some of the gray matrix was left during preparation to form a natural base / stand for the fossil to rest upright on. The wavy formations, known as sutures, are visible in areas where the upper surface has flaked away. The unique suture patterning is usually hidden by the material of the external shell in complete fossils, but the fractal patterning or suture marks are an aesthetically interesting part of ammonite anatomy. The surface is lovely earthen tones, but there are faint areas of iridescence when brightly lit, overall a fantastic display piece! Size: 9.25" Diameter x 3" W x 11" H (23.5 cm x 7.6 cm x 27.9 cm)
