**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built, finely decorated globular vessel, its elegantly curved walls painted with three registers of repeated red bands framing rows of white "X" motifs on chocolate brown ground, the uppermost register continuing inside the rim. Between these sections are multiple striations in red, chocolate brown, and white. Finally, on the underside, a red net pattern containing white circles, perhaps representing eggs or seeds, against a chocolate brown ground. Size: 9.25" in diameter x 6.5" H (23.5 cm x 16.5 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Harvey Collection, acquired prior to 1972
