Description:

Ancient Egypt, Early Dynastic Period, 1st to 2nd Dynasty, ca. 3100 to 2686 BCE. A sizable offering dish carved from yellow-white alabaster with natural opaque bands of color within the stone matrix. The vessel features a rectangular profile with slight indentations on the walls, shallow basin surrounded by thick walls, curved lateral sides that facilitated its movement, and a lightly rounded but stable base. This elegant object was perhaps used to carry out ceremonies or make religious offerings to the gods. Size: 11.5" L x 6.9" W x 2.75" H (29.2 cm x 17.5 cm x 7 cm)
