Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, West Coast, Ca 500 to 1000 CE. Terracotta vessel used during ceremonial rites, where the worshiper would grasp vessel by two legs, then chant while shaking the rattles. Small jaguars adorn the top of each leg. 1-1/2" H x 7" across. Provenance: Ex-Artemis Gallery, ex-private Northern Colorado Collection. The starting price is the lowest price at which the piece can sell.
