Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero region, ca. 400 BCE. A sizeable Chontal standing abstract figure, carved and string cut from a large piece of blue-green stone, with a striking presence comprised of an oversized head, its visage with nose, lips, facial planes, phalange ears, and projecting jawline above a deeply undercut neck, an elongated wide torso, and delineated limbs - the arms with recessions demarcating the hands and armbands, the legs with demarcated feet. The beauty of the stone, either blue-green metadiorite or serpentine with mesmerizing striated patterns, in addition to the elegant delineation of the form, makes for an impressive addition to any collection. Custom museum-quality stand. Size: 5.75" W x 9.75" H (14.6 cm x 24.8 cm); 10" H (25.4 cm) on included custom stand.
