Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes culture, Ramos Polychrome type, ca. 1150 to 1450 CE. A hand-built pottery jar of sizable, round-bottomed form with a tapered shoulder and a flared rim. The light orange exterior surface is decorated with dense black and red linear and triangular motifs across the upper body, and the lower body and base are unadorned. Size: 11.54" Diameter x 9.7" H (29.3 cm x 24.6 cm)

Provenance: Estate of Peter H. Tillou Collection, thence by descent. Acquired in the 1990s, collection # 120. Appraised by Marianne Huber in 2014.
