(3.81 kg) meteorite originates from the famous Canyon Diablo fall site, composed primarily of iron and nickel, this meteorite boasts a rugged, natural surface with unique regmaglypts (thumbprint-like impressions) formed during its fiery descent through Earth's atmosphere. The meteor hit earth about 50,000 years ago, fragmenting into pieces that scattered throughout the site. Most Canyon Diablo meteorite pieces available on the market are typically much smaller, often just a few ounces or less. Large specimens like this one are uncommon and highly prized by collectors!
