Description:

Ancient Near East, Byzantium, ca. 5th century CE. This is a large utilitarian round bodied vessel made with the lost wax cast bronze technique. It has a tapered neck with a stippled design and a trefoil lip. The piece has a beautiful olive green patina. This could have been used for pouring wine or water, and was probably passed down through generations, as we know that bronze objects were heirlooms in Byzantine society. Size: 6.25" W x 11" H (15.9 cm x 27.9 cm)
