Description:

Near East / Holy Land, Byzantine Empire, ca. 8th to 12th century CE. A fine cast-bronze cross with flared termini decorated with pattern-molded motifs of concentric linear and circular forms. A small recess is presented in the center of the cross and was meant for displaying small precious stones or other bronze or copper medallions. An integral suspension loop on the top-most arm enables this cross to be worn as a pendant on a necklace. Size: 2.1" W x 3.5" H (5.3 cm x 8.9 cm).
