Description:

South America, Bolivia, millions and millions of years old. A sizable amethyst crystal quartz cluster, a natural mineral specimen lining the interior of a geode assuming an oblong, ovoid shape. Geodes form from hollow bubbles inside a layer of rocks. Rain or other water sources falling on the exterior of the rock cause the elements within it to flow into the bubbles which form beautiful crystals like these within. Trace variations in mineral content, especially magnesium, copper, or iron, can have significant effects. The name of this popular purple gemstone is Greek in origin and means "not drunken," and the purple hue of the crystals comes from iron in silicate. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 12" W x 11.75" H (30.5 cm x 29.8 cm); 18.5" H (47 cm) on included custom stand.
