Description:

Ancient Seas, ca. 521 to 252 million years ago. A large Austerops trilobite with excellent remaining details, displayed by carving around the rock in which it was encased. The trilobite (meaning three-lobes) was a marine arachnomorph arthropod that seems to have been one of the most ubiquitous animals from the Early Cambrian to the Late Permian, when they were killed during the mass extinction at the end of the Permian period. They had an easily fossilized exoskeleton, which is clearly visible on this specimen. Size: 5.25" L x 3.5" W (13.3 cm x 8.9 cm); size with matrix: 5.75" L (14.6 cm).
