Description:

Western Europe, Late Roman to Medieval Period, ca. 5th to 13th century CE. A forged-iron spade shaped tool with a thick socketing shaft - likely a farming tool for digging and tilling large swaths of earth. The flattened head is broad and spade shaped, and note that the blade is angled at a 90 degree from where the wooden handle would attach to use as a hoe. Size: 9.75" L x 6.25" W x 2" H (24.8 cm x 15.9 cm x 5.1 cm)
