A wonderful blackware jar on a sloped round foot, with globular body and slightly tapered spout, the base of which is adorned with the visage of Nylamp, the Lambayeque god of the underworld, with characteristically upswept almond-shaped eyes, large ear onament, and a stern countenance. A lovely bird perched upon the strap handle symbolizes the gods' connection between the realms of the earth and sky. Size: 8-5/8" x 7" from end of strap handle to front.
