Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Lambayeque, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A blackware stirrup vessel on a concave round foot, with a globular body, twin conical spouts connected via an arched strap handle with the head of Nylamp (God of the Underworld) emerging from the central pinnacle of the handle, serpent head projections just below the spouts, typical of Lambayeque pottery, the body of the vessel with four panels depicting warrior figures wearing tumi headdresses in relief against a stippled ground. A wonderful example from the ancients of the Andes. Size: 7.75" W x 8.125" H (19.7 cm x 20.6 cm)
