Description:

Pre-Columbian, Argentina, La Aguada / Aquada culture, ca. 700 to 1000 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl with a broad, concave base, an inverted bell-shaped body, a petite circular handle, and a thin rim surrounding the deep basin. The highly burnished exterior surfaces are adorned with hundreds of petite incised striations that present within wider, arrow-shaped bands perhaps in imitation of feathers or arrow barbs.   • Condition: Repaired from a few large pieces, with nearly invisible resurfacing along break lines. Minor abrasions to base, body, and rim, with softening to some incised details, and light encrustations. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
