Pre-Columbian, Argentina, La Aguada, ca. 600 to 900 CE. A beautiful incised greyware pottery bowl created by the little known La Aguada culture of Argentina. The thin walls of this large bowl are decorated with a wide exterior register of a finely incised zigzag pattern, perhaps representing lightning bolts. Size: 7-1/4" in diameter x 4-11/16"H. Provenance: Ex-private Denver, CO collection, acquired from an Argentinean artist, who emigrated to the USA in the 1960's and acquired piece by descent.
